Effective 10 August 2026
Delete your Albi account
You can delete your Albi account, and everything in it, from inside the Albi app in under a minute — or by email if you can no longer sign in.
Deletion is not instant: your account is hidden and signed out right away, and everything is erased permanently 30 days later, so that a change of mind is still possible.
Delete your account from the app
This is the fastest route, and it needs nobody’s help. Open Albi on the device you signed in on, then:
- Tap Nooks — the first tab in the bottom bar, with the person icon. It shows your own profile.
- Tap the gear button at the top right of that screen to open Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation sheet and tap Delete account again to confirm. Tapping Keep my account cancels, and nothing is deleted.
Your account is hidden immediately and you are signed out. No further step is needed — the permanent erasure happens on its own after 30 days.
If you can’t sign in
If you have lost access to the device or cannot sign in, email chiteki.albi@gmail.com from the email address on the account, with the subject Delete my account. Include your Albi handle if you remember it.
We reply to the address on the account to confirm the request before acting on it — this is how we make sure nobody else can delete your account. Requests are actioned within 30 days of that confirmation, and the same 30-day grace period and the same erasure described below then apply.
What happens after you request deletion
- Immediately — your profile, nooks, entries, photos, videos and comments stop being visible to anyone on Albi, and you are signed out on every device.
- For 30 days — nothing is erased yet. Signing back in during this window cancels the deletion and restores everything exactly as it was.
- After 30 days — everything listed below is erased permanently, and cannot be recovered by you or by us.
What is deleted
After the 30-day grace period, all of the following are erased permanently from our database and from our media storage:
- Your profile
- Your name, handle, avatar, profile backdrop (“Mural”), privacy settings, age band, and the record of your acceptance of our terms.
- Your content
- Your nooks and the entries in them — titles, descriptions, dates and place names — along with every photo and video you uploaded, including the reduced-size copies of them, and any stickers you added.
- Your comments and messages
- Every comment and direct message you wrote, including the ones you sent to other people and the ones sitting in other people’s conversations. Conversations that exist only between you and one other person are removed entirely.
- Your connections and activity
- Who you follow and who follows you, pending follow requests, your memberships of other people’s nooks, accounts you blocked, likes, entries you marked as done, favourited photos, read state, unread counts and your notification history.
- Devices and notifications
- The push notification tokens for every device you signed in on, so no further notification can reach you.
- Safety and support records
- Reports you filed, reports filed about your content, and any additional-storage requests you submitted.
- Your sign-in identity
- Once the above is gone, your identity — including your email address and any Apple or Google sign-in link — is deleted at our authentication provider, WorkOS. The email address is then free to be used for a new account.
What is kept, and for how long
Three things outlive the erasure of an account.
- Product analytics and error reports — up to 12 months
- Events such as screen views, feature events, crash reports and masked session recordings sit with our analytics provider and are deleted automatically no later than twelve months after they were recorded. They carry an account identifier and handle, never the text of your messages or your photos. Write to chiteki.albi@gmail.com if you want them removed sooner.
- Age-block records — retained indefinitely
- Where an age check resolved to under 13, the account is blocked and a minimal record is kept — an account identifier, the date of the check and the age band — so the same identity cannot simply sign up again with a different answer. The name, handle, avatar and Mural are erased at the moment the block is applied, and the retained record holds no profile, content or contact details.
- Beta waitlist entries — until you ask us to remove them
- If you gave us your email through the waitlist form on this website, that entry is separate from your account and is not touched by deleting the account. Email chiteki.albi@gmail.com and we will delete it.
We may also retain the minimum needed to comply with a legal obligation or to resolve a dispute, for as long as that obligation lasts. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture of what Albi stores and why.
Deleting some of your data instead
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove something from it. Inside the app you can delete an individual entry, nook, photo or comment, edit your profile, or turn your profile private. A deleted entry or nook disappears from view immediately and is erased permanently 30 days later, the same way an account is.
For a copy of your data, a correction you cannot make yourself, or any other privacy request, write to chiteki.albi@gmail.com.
Who to contact
